Sorry, I had to go back in time to Sally Fields’ second acceptance speech for her second Best Actress Oscar for this title where she says this particular line for the title. I couldn’t resist.
I started blogging quite by accident, actually, by responding to posts from another blogger who was writing about a particular manga that was going strong at that time, Naruto. It is no longer going as now he has kids so now that kid, Boruto, is on his own as a manga (ok, you can tell I’m really following that one – NOT!). It all began with responding to posts. Then? I moved into being a substitute writer for that blog for the anime – which was about a year or two behind where the anime was – and it had to be the subtitled version from Japan. The U.S. version didn’t cut it. Then it grew into me writing for the anime article itself, same blog. Soon, the big “gig” hit: the manga post. That was the feature. And I was asked to do a post as a back-up writer. Turns out, my writing and readership ended up eclipsing the popularity of the regular writer! OUCH! Soon, I moved from the anime post to the manga post permanently. It moved to two blogs and…life changed.
Later, I started my own blog about myself but it was more of a journal. I never intended to publish anything. I wrote a few things then stopped. I bounced around different places: Blogger, StumbledUpon, and then stayed with WordPress because I was posting here for that original manga blog. After about three tries, I decided to stick with the blog you’re now seeing posts from, How I learned to Dance In the Rain. And even more important? I decided that I’d post at least once per day – I’ve missed once already but I needed that break. I was running out of inspiration. But, I’m back and still posting because of the joy I find in writing and what I’ve learned from all of you as photo bloggers, poet bloggers, Journal bloggers and even those that encourage all of us to be better and offer assistance to us who want to write and to move forward to be writers for publishing. We all share a love of art in any form in our own forum and I love that. I’ve come to know many of you through your posts to my blog and I am honored to know you. And I’m honored to know many of you through your posts in your blogs; they are all true art to me. Thank you.

Now, I’ve told you one thing – or is it two? – about myself. I am into anime/manga, Japanese action comics is the best way to describe them. Technically it’s called Shonen, and a very famous title in that market is Dragonball. Manga is the print form, anime is the cartoon. I’ve written blogs for that area as well as online news for that – the online Examiner was the news group.
Another thing about me here? I alluded to it in an earlier post – I’m technically a “gamer.” Skyrim, anyone? Elder Scrolls is where it’s at for me. I was playing Elder Scrolls Online yesterday and lost track of the time so no posts for me. But, I have played the Assassin’s Creed series and lost track at Assassin’s Creed four – sorry, Desmond Miles’ death threw me for a wallop. I’m tied to the Steam client as it’s all on the PC so I am going to see if I can get the Dishonored series, also from Bethesda, like the Elder Scrolls series. I’ve also played the Halo series, another favorite of mine.
One. Two. Three. Oh, I’ll add one more thing – I’d LOVE to travel and the place I want to visit the most? The British Isles of Ireland, Scotland, Wales; my forefather’s homelands. We’ll see if I re-marry or if I become wealthy on my own to travel. I’m still trying to rebuild my life as you saw in my earlier post.
I was not a big reader at one time but have had to be in order to focus on poetry more. It begs the question of “Who is your favorite author?” That is tough to answer as I love different types of authors from different periods of time. I’m going to say from the poetry genre, Edgar Allen Poe and from the fiction area, Frances Mayes who wrote Under the Tuscan Sun, a story about a divorced woman starting over – In Italy. I’m going through a life transition myself…maybe I should move to Ireland?
And can you believe I hated poetry?
For all of the writing I do, you’d think I was an introvert. Not in the slightest. Although I live alone – my kids are grown up now and no, I’m not old – and enjoy being alone, I also enjoy having friends around and being around people. I’m an extrovert. I’m recharged by being around people and I’m at my best being around others. I’m not a “more the merrier” type, however. A smaller group setting is fine – my energy is drained if there are too many people around for too long. And as far as an ideal weekend? I love being active – anything from errands to going for a ride in the….ok, I’m in the big city so the “countryside” is hard to find. One of my favorite places is Minnehaha Falls outside of St. Paul, close to Minneapolis. It’s a park with beautiful falls that you’d never expect to see in an urban setting near Fort Snelling National Monument and the International Airport. But it’s there and it’s gorgeous. In the wintertime, the falls freeze creating a cave, but the water still flows freely giving it a hauntingly beautiful look.
Now the strange question I was asked – would I rather be 3 foot tall or 8 foot tall. Given I’m 5′ 8″ tall now, I’m not sure I’d like either but, if I had to choose, it would be 8 foot tall. Where I am, we have the NBA, the National Basketball Association and the players live here – or many do, anyway. Clothing is made for them – and most are or close to 7 foot tall. Shoes are made for that size, all of them drive. You get the idea. It’s not that difficult for them to live; what’s another 12 inches? I have nothing against those who are 3 feet tall. I accept all as they are. But for me? Tall is where it is.
Here are the links to my very best posts (I cheated. I added one more):
